Music in the Hill Country

Music in the Hill Country

Everyone enjoys good music and good food, and when you stay at the Roddy Tree Ranch, the search for those two things becomes much easier.

The Roddy Tree Ranch has been here and running for 18 years now and the Lazy Days Canteen (located at the Roddy Tree Ranch) is celebrating its 5th year anniversary this year! The Canteen has always brought quality entertainment to the hill country during summer, Saturday nights since 2009 and plans to keep it that way for a good long while. The music venue includes performers such as Joe “King” Carasco (also known as the “Crown Jewel” of Tex Mex Rock n’ Roll), Monty Montgomery (one of the top 50 guitarists of all time), Reggae on the Guadalupe (with Terry Emden, the Galaxy (Waazobia) and fire dancer, Aurora Joleen), Ponty Bone & the Squeezetones (Austin Chronicle Music Hall of Famer), Nautical Nation (their performance on May 10th is a fundraiser for their 2014 Coast to Coast Tour), Larry (the ultimate Jam Band), Slim Bawb also known as Bob Pearce (has that swampy-Louisiana sound), “Karp Foley” which is Sue Foley and Peter Karp (has a cross between country and blues -bluntry- with a little healthy dose of R&B thrown in) and the Lazy Days Canteen’s very own house band The River Rats!
On Sundays in the middle of April, you can even do some boot scootin’ to the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame member – Junior Pruneda & Friends.

Your weekend music is always taken care of at the Roddy Tree as well as the food which is provided by Chef Jefe – who has 11 years of experience working in the food and restaurant industry.

(Google all these entertainers, they all have sites and you can listen and preview their music)
(For your convenience Kerrville’s ticket outlet – Western Beverages)

All the music and fun doesn’t stop there though! For more you can attend the famous Kerrville Folk Festival; the festival goes on for 18 straight days, has been going on since 1972, and nearly draws 30,000 people a year! The best part is that you can spend the entire day at this event or out in some very well-known nearby towns like Fredricksburg (doing some shopping or dining down Main Street or even going to visit the beautiful Enchanted Rock State Park) and return to your cottage rental at the Roddy Tree Ranch.

The Roddy Tree Ranch and Lazy Days Canteen is located just one mile from the Ingram Dam on Highway 39 headed toward Hunt.
